The Real Reason TC Energy is Proposing a Pumped Storage Project in Meaford?
Bruce Rodgers, an environmental impact specialist, says that the proposed TC Energy pumped storage facility on the shore of Georgian Bay in Meaford will consume more electricity than it generates, increase carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, potentially harm the environment, and pose a risk to those living in the impact zone. He believes TC Energy’s motive for the project may be more about profit than green energy.
This viewpoint provides both an interesting perspective on this project that GBA has been actively involved with since November 2019, and a good summary of key objections that accord with GBA’s submissions on potential environmental impacts and protection. Bruce Rodgers was a business partner and close friend of scientist Karl Schiefer, an Honourary Life Member of GBA.
