MNRF Introduces Floating Homes Regulations
From July 1 floating homes (accommodations) will no longer be able to tie up to crown land or anchor overnight on a lakebed. This a good move forward for GBA’s efforts to have floating homes properly regulated, but we still need to persuade Transport Canada to make Ontario’s floating homes regulations consistent with those in BC to close the loop on this. The primary focus therefore remains to continue both writing email letters on this to Transport Canada here: do-gooder letter portal and organize petitions here and the instructions on how to complete them here. Please read the instructions carefully as incorrectly completed petitions will be rejected.
GBA applauds this swift and responsible action by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) and thanks Minister Graydon Smith (also MPP for Parry Sound Muskoka) for guiding these constructive regulation changes through to their introduction next week.
