MNRF Has Lifted Restricted Fire Zone Order for Ontario

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) has lifted the Restricted Fire Zone (RFZ) designation for Ontario’s fire region effective July 11 at 4 p.m. The RFZ had been in place since June 1.

MNRF thanked Ontarians and visitors for doing their part to help prevent forest fires and keep communities safe throughout this fire ban.

Please continue to check with and adhere to your municipality’s fire danger ratings and local burn restrictions as overall fire danger can change rapidly. Forest fire season runs from May 1 through October 31 in Ontario so it is important to remain vigilant!

GBA issues a Fire Danger Rating Report every Thursday during the summer season to provide you with the most up-to-date overview of conditions on the north channel and the eastern coast of Georgian Bay. This report is an amalgamation of the current information with links to the MNRF and your local municipalities. See the latest Fire Danger Ratings Report here.
