The community associations that comprise Georgian Bay Association are located on the traditional territories of numerous Indigenous communities who also have reserve lands around the Bay.
These include:

Magnetawan | Chippewas of Nawash |
Shawanaga | Saugeen |
and there are other First Nation communities on Manitoulin Island:

GBA has identified a priority to reach out to try to create a meaningful dialogue with many of these Indigenous communities, particularly as we promote the concept of Guardians of Georgian Bay and work on our various environmental initiatives.
Committee Mandate:
To be a conduit for communications with Indigenous communities on issues of interest.
Accountabilities:
To seek awareness and understanding of Indigenous perspectives on land, forest, fisheries and water issues and work to improve communications between GBA and its member associations on the one hand and First Nations bands on the other and to nurture collaborative guardianship efforts on facets of Georgian Bay of common concern
