Forest Fires Are Drone Free Zones
Drones are responsible for some of the most beautiful and dramatic Bay photography, but flying drones or un-manned aerial vehicles (UAV) around forest fires is both dangerous and illegal.
The “no drone zone” is any area within nine kilometres of any forest fire.
Disrupting air traffic around fires can cause delays in wildland fire suppression efforts and put the safety of firefighters, pilots, emergency service personnel, and the public at risk. It also comes with serious penalties, including fines and/or jail time.
Remember, you are the pilot of your drone. Before you fly, make sure you understand the rules and regulations. Drone pilots must follow the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs). Visit Transport Canada’s drone safety page for more flying tips.
