Transport Canada Wants Your Input on Propeller-Driven Surfboards
Transport Canada (TC) has opened up the discussion on lifting the ban on electric surfboards/hydrofoils for your input. As part of their decision making process, the Let’s Talk Transportation portal invites your comments and suggestions on propeller-driven surfboard-type vessels.
In 1999 TC banned self-propelled surfboards. They were dangerous as they were mostly homemade and had open propellers. They have come along way and the industry and some of the public have lobbied TC to take another look. It seems highly likely the ban will be lifted. TC is looking for input into what requirements they should mandate to make them as safe as possible.
