In Georgian Bay, customers typically get floating docks through two main pathways:
1. Hire a Dock Contractor Who Builds Their Own Floating Dock System

2. Buy Manufactured Dock Systems Through Authorized Dealers or Contractors

Some companies design, build, and install their own floating dock solutions.
They do not rely on external manufacturers, their docks are custom built in house. Some companies do not build their own floats, they install, sell, or represent dock systems produced by industry manufacturers (Techstar, PermaFloat, Snap Dock, FLOE, Beautiful Deck Company, etc.)
What this means for customers:
- They work directly with one contractor
- The contractor designs the dock, builds the flotation system, and installs it
- The dock type depends on the contractor’s materials (steel tube, PVC, HDPE, wood + floats, etc.)
- This is ideal for custom shorelines, heavy duty needs, or retrofits
Or
- Customers choose a manufactured system
- A local dealer/contractor handles site visits, ordering, delivery, and installation
- Good option for customers wanting modularity or branded systems
