Sea Lamprey By the Numbers
The sea lamprey is one of the greatest threats to wild fish stocks and has been a major cause of previous declines in wild fish stocks. In Lake Huron, sea lamprey populations are slightly above target levels, but their numbers have been holding steady for the past five years. More work needs to be done to reach agreements with First Nation groups on treating some currently untreated tributaries to further reduce numbers.
