Good News on Norm Miller's Dock Foam Bill
Bill 228, Keeping Polystyrene Out of Ontario’s Lakes and Rivers Act, to ban unencapsulated dock foam in new docks and repairs has now completed its passage through the legislature, and should receive royal assent shortly. This bill will help to reduce polystyrene pollution in Ontario waters.
MPP Norm Miller thanked GBA, along with Georgian Bay Forever, the Federation of Ontario Cottagers’ Associations, the Townships of the Archipelago, Georgian Bay and Carling for supporting this bill. He also thanked everyone who wrote letters to their MPPs and sent in pictures of the dock foam they have personally collected.
Over the next two years GBA and Georgian Bay Forever will work with our other partners to make sure the regulations will be effective in quickly implementing this legislation.
