That’s why the GBA is such good value for our members, in my view. So many of the resources we need are volunteered. That includes contributions by non-Board members, like the longstanding and committed members of our Aquaculture Committee, and certain benefactors who support the GBA financially. We’re lucky to have a full- time Executive Director. The ED is the glue that binds the organization together. But the ED alone could not do nearly all the things that GBA needs to act on to get the job done. I look forward to sharing more about the GBA’s priorities and initiatives in the next UPDATE . In the meantime, stay up-to-date with our emailed eUPDATE newsletter and on the website at www.georgianbay.ca . Please feel free to contact the GBA with any comments, questions or issues by getting in touch with your association’s GBA Board member, with Rupert Kindersley, or myself directly. I wanted to say “thank you” for the opportunity to serve as your GBA President. My time on the Board, especially the last few years, has been an education. Celebrating GBA’s 100 th Anniversary, the Wiiky land claim, the Parry Sound 33 fire, Maceys Bay, transitioning to a new Executive Director and much more – all have made for interesting times. During the course of the last four summers, my wife, Beth, and I cruised Georgian Bay from Honey Harbour to the North Channel on our sailing vessel Annie’s Song . Not only did this allow us to experience the numerous beautiful areas that make up the Bay, it was also the occasion to meet and get to know better so many wonderful people that we are privileged to call friends. Georgian Bay will face a number of challenges in coming years. I can’t say how pleased I am that John Carson agreed to come on board as President. Together with a skilled and energetic Board and a capable Executive Director, I know that I leave you in very good hands. Past President – John McMullen
